MLP Custom Plushie: Un-named Baby Pony Trial by ivy-cinder MLP Custom Plushie: Un-named Baby Pony Trial by ivy-cinder
He's all squishy and cute.

I need some advice. This is the baby pony pattern I have been designing guided by the 'Baby Cakes' MLP FiM episode designs. What do you guys think of the shape of the baby pony? I think the head should be bigger, but this was difficult because he would then be off-balance. Does it work the proportions he is? The eyes are bigger than the on-screen baby ponies, which I did for added cuteness. Tell me your thoughts please! Positive and negative.

The faces are also a little creepy... would extra eye highlights and nostrils help make it better?

Pattern: mine
Materials: Fleece, long faux fur, acrylic paint
Hand and machine sewn

Actually this is my OC who doesn't have a name, and actually has pale blue fur. The users who have commented are just telling me he looks like Derpy, but thanks for your input.

i think that if you put little nostrils on the snout it would look less creepy :) otherwise its very good.

This is one of the better ponies I've seen! The proportions are actually pretty good -- resist the urge to make her head too big. I wonder why her front and back half (the body) are two pieces though? And the long pile is really cute! I think it has a very obviously MLP look, but it also seems... more like an authentic toy instead of a 3D, sewn copy of the characters from the show (does that make ANY sense at all?).

I kinda get what you mean. The face shape isn't really right for a 3D copy of the MLP design, and does look more like a 'baby pony toy'.

I've actually never though about why the body is in 2 pieces! It was useful when I was changing the body pattern, but now I've finalised it I don't really need to keep cutting them out separate! You've just saved me a bit of time, thanks.

You're welcome ;) I kept puzzling the pattern out in my head and I couldn't tell whyyyy, I had to ask!

And don't be confused, I actually like the face. A lot of folks try to make exact 3d plush copies of the characters and it's fine, they're cute, but they lack originality. And that's what I like about your pattern, it is still obviously MLP, but it's got your own style too.

Do you take commissions? I want it. I NEED it. I really like her mane! It needs a diaper though. Or is she potty trained?

Eeee! He will have a diaper. I might do some with 'first teeth' in homage to the 80s hasbro baby ponies.

No commissions at this time, but thanks for your interest.

I think that the proportions all look really good. I guess you could try making the head bigger if you wanted, it wouldn't hurt, but I think that keeping the thing balanced is more important.
Really hoping that if you do change the pattern at all, you release a tutorial or a pattern, because this is just so adorable!

Aw, I think he's absolutely darling. I love the material you used for the hair, looks much better than if you did pattern hair  I think the proportions are good, I wouldn't change a thing!
If it's really bothering you though, make another one with alterations to the parts you don't like and then compare them to see which pattern you like better. You could also put up a comparison on here for people to decide =)
Either way, I think he's adorable :)

DAAAWW! I like this design, but like Sophillia said, if you want to make the head bigger just add weight, to the back legs especially. Make little "pillows" filled with sand or steel shot and stick them in with the stuffing. It wouldn't take much. :)

I like it the way it is. No nostrils work.

If the head size really is bothering you, put a buttload of sand in its back legs and a little in its front and it'll weight it down.
