Baby Rainbow Dash Plush: Final Version by ivy-cinder Baby Rainbow Dash Plush: Final Version by ivy-cinder
With 31% of the votes ([link]), you asked for it! Baby Rainbow Dash. Made with my final baby pony pattern, vinyl eyelashes and a thread sculpted mouth.

So cute!!! Sadly she doesn't have a nappy/diaper. I made one, but I didn't want it to be stitched on permanently and with her tail I just couldn't make a removable one work. Maybe next time.

6" tall from hoof to ear (not inclusive of mane). 5" long from nose to rear.
Fleece, faux fur, vinyl, felt and acrylic paint. Hand stitched.
Pattern my own. I do not give out my patterns.

Did you make or photograph this plush?

If not... then you are taking credit for work you didn't do.

How do you attach vinyl eyelashes? Do you cut or alter them or sew them behind the eyes? I think I may have seen them at the local craft store but there are not any instructions on how to use them.

The eyelashes are cut from vinyl fabric like any other piece of the plush, they are attached to the back of the eye before that is then sewn to the head.
I don't know anything about pre-made ones that you can buy, I've never seen them.

The local craft shop has them. They seem like they would be sharp and hard to work with too. They are a single peice of plastic.

I always thought it would be better to make the eye lashes oneself as opposed to buying premade plastic ones.

In the future would it be possible to cut a hole for the tail in the diaper and have it close via velcro?

:iconivy-cinder:
ivy-cinder Featured By Owner Oct 10, 2012  Professional General Artist
Yes it would.
I was aiming to make actual diapers that could be tied as if they were real working ones, with a hole in for the tail. I've not yet been able to do this with decent weight fabric that doesn't fray, so they have not come to be.

I've seen fabric used to make diapers (seems like a waste to me) at Jo-Anne Fabrics. It's waterproof and I don't know if it's just this one indivudual store or not but they only have a limited selection of colors and patterns.

I'm sorry, are you saying a) you've seen diaper fabric and a) you think reuseable diapers are a waste but putting 10 disposable ones in a bin a day is not?

There is a brand waterproof fabric I have seen at Jo-Anne Fabrics and it seems as if it for people to make custom diapers from. Now that you mintion it, putting 10 or more diapers in the trash everyday is kinda wasteful.

Aww! She is adorable! What do you use for manes and tails and how do you get them to stay in place? Most people who make plushies and give them "hair" of any kind do not use actual hair but make it out of additional fabric and stuff it with the rest of the plushie. With ponies or anything of an equine form, it seems you can get away with that; but on other species or certian characters it seems as if they just have a big banana attached to their head.

Faux fur for the mane. It's brushed and styled like it was real hair, fixed with hair lacquer.
